Hayley recently headed to Woolangong for the Wave Warriors Junior Challenge Surf Lifesaving carnival inspired by ironman Zane Holmes. There were two days of racing for the 11 to 15 year old competitors which also featured autograph sessions with Holmes, Shannon Eckstein, Ali Day and Hayley. The Ironmen and Hayley also competed in fun board challenges against the youngsters on nipper boards. It was a very successful carnival and will be held at North Woolangong beach until at least 2013.
Hayley along with Ironman Matt Poole and Candice Falzon served up some tennis fun at Australian Open 2011. The stars of the surf also tested their athletic ability on a range of tennis related activities at Fan Zone, which included the slalom sprint, hit the target and tennis tornado.
“It was great playing all those games with the kids today,” said Hayley. ”It’s such a great idea to get kids out and off the couches
participating in sport. At a young age it sets them up for the rest of their lives – it helps them stay fit and healthy.”
Tennis fans also lined up at Autograph Island and the Tennis Booth in Garden Square to meet Bateup, Poole and Falzon and have their photo taken with them.
