‘Secrets’ speech caps sports night

BRIANNA Hutchinson and Joshua Eacott are the 2011 sportswoman and sportsman of the year for St Patrick’s College.

They were presented to the crowd at Souths Leagues Club last Friday evening where the special guest was surf lifesaving champion Hayley Bateup.

Sporting excellence award winners for 2011 were also announced at the 21st annual St Patrick’s College sports dinner.

They were Eamon Kelly (rugby union), Damien Van Der Berg (squash), Anna Courtice (squash) and Kelton Dorante (rugby union), who represented Queensland in their sports during the year.

Bateup delighted the crowd with her inspiring address that focused on her passion for competitive surf lifesaving and the secrets behind her successful career.

In all, 215 students participated in inter-school competitions.

Special awards were presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to college sporting teams throughout the year.
