HAYLEY Bateup is a legend in surf lifesaving circles where she has ruled the waves throughout an illustrious 15-year career.
Ms Bateup’s superb performances as an athlete are being matched in the corporate world where her services as a guest speaker are fast gaining her a burgeoning reputation as the “go-to girl” on the celebrity speaker circuit.
That circuit takes her to Salt this Friday where she will speak words of wisdom at the annual Ocean Road Mud Crab Luncheon, which will be held in Steven Snow’s classy Fins restaurant.
The lunch provides not only the opportunity to feast on several courses featuring mud crabs, but also raise funds for the Australian Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
Proceeds from each ticket sold will be donated to the fund and lunch guests will be given the chance to swell those coffers as they wine and dine.
“The chance to help a worthy cause, mud crabs, laughter and bubbles for lunch; it doesn’t get much better than that,” said Fins mine-host, Steven Snow.
The degustation lunch – it’s a French term meaning “a careful and appreciative tasting of various foods” – will be hosted by Mr Snow, renowned restaurateur, award-winning chef, TV personality and author.
But Ms Bateup’s appearance is sure to be a real highlight.
The three-time winner of the coveted Coolan-gatta Gold Ironwoman as well as eight Australian SLS championships, Ms Bateup is a true sporting legend.
